Kingspoint Dolphins Home Swim Meet (photo by Jen Stanhope)

Letter from the KP Presidents

Dear Kingspoint Club Members,

We hope that you are having a wonderfully relaxing summer, enjoying these hot, breezy days and frequent summer storms. It has been a great summer at the pool/clubhouse.  There was something for everybody in July including the wonderful Fourth of July party, numerous private events held at the clubhouse, regularly attended Water Aerobics classes taught by fellow Kingspoint resident Joan Feldman, a sunset “Club the Creek” event on July 19th, and many swim team practices and meets.  Please attend our next big social event on August 2nd, which is a Tiki Party on the Pool Deck sponsored by Anna Thomas!

Special Memory from a swimmer of the KP Dolphins Swim Team from 1969 (the first year of the Dolphins!)

The Kingspoint Dolphins have come a long way since their early days dating back to 1969! No concessions stand back then, and boy, we didn’t know what we were missing! We fueled up on sugar cubes and powdered jello! Back in the day, goggles were not a thing, mostly because they leaked after two seconds. And we didn’t have a clue about sunscreen, but we made up for all this with enthusiasm and team pride! While not the strongest swimmer on the team, this “Gran” lacked nothing in the cheerleading department, and did add a few points to the scoreboard!

Fast forward 55 years and my grandsons, Roan and Jack, are making a splash—literally—on the same team where I first learned that swimming a 50 yard race is harder than it looks. While they race with goggles that don’t leak and more stylish speedos, I watch proudly from the sidelines, while vigorously yelling all kinds of encouragement to the boys. There’s something special about knowing the same pool has seen both my slightly crooked backstroke and their newly emerging swimming abilities. It’s now a family tradition—and full of heart.

Volunteers and Donors: We are continually thankful for our members and your unwavering support. You make the Club look beautiful and run smoothly. If we have forgotten to thank you, please know that this was not intentional. The Club couldn’t run properly without everyone’s efforts!! A heartfelt thank you to all for signing up and showing up! THANK YOU ALL!

  • Kathy and John Williams - Hosted a deliciously patriotic picnic on the 4th of July!

  • MaryKate Galke, Michael Gordon, Denise Koch, Beth & Scott Lerberg, and Pam Young - Assisted in making the 4th of July picnic a wonderful success!

  • Jen Stanhope and Dave Parrish - Thank you both for making sure our Club communications are on time and up-to-date. Jen publishes the Newsletter each month and Dave maintains the website. Members can check out both the newsletters and the website at www.kingspointclub.org!

  • Joan Feldman - Thank you for leading our members in weekly water aerobics in the month of July. Our members love your classes for the movement, fun, and fellowship!

  • Tim and Linda Caviness - Thank you for over forty years of friendship in the Kingspoint community and for your many services to the Kingspoint Club and the Architectural Review Committee.

  • Mike Matthews - Thank you for volunteering your time and services to professionally update the Dock plans and the 2025 Due Diligence report. We are so incredibly appreciative of all your work on the Architectural Review Committee as well.

Due Diligence Report: The Board recently discovered that in past years, one of our members, Mike Matthews, created (every 5 years) a Due Diligence report for the Kingspoint Club. The Due Diligence report contained the professional reports which evaluate the current status of all of the Club’s amenities. The Board has decided to reinstate Mike’s Due Diligence report in 2025 to help us better understand the Club’s current status. It is our hope that our Board as well as future Boards will use the information in this report to address short-term and long-term maintenance needs of the Club moving future.*

*All this being said, please let us know if there are things that you have seen which need to be repaired/cleaned/fixed at the Club.  Be on the lookout for another KP Club Cleanup Event in the Fall. We need everyone's help to make the clubhouse, pool, and landscaping be something of which our community is proud.  In the meantime, there are a few maintenance items for which we could use volunteer support including 1.) power washing some areas on and around the clubhouse and 2.) donations of and spreading some additional mulch in flower beds around the clubhouse.

Facilities Team Support: The Facilities Team has LOTS TO DO and NEEDS your help!  Can you cut down a dead tree? Can you fix a swim block? Can you replace decking boards? Can you move mulch? Can you fix broken lighting or solve a plumbing mystery? WE NEED YOU! Please contact our Facilities chair (kingspointfacilities@gmail.com) if you would like to join our Facilities Team or to find out if there are any projects that we could use your help completing.

Kingspoint Community Merchandise: T-shirts are $20 each for this year's RED options. Previous years' T-shirts are $5 each; there are limited sizes. Ball caps (RED or GRAY) are $20 each. Koozies are $5 each. All merchandise will be available for sale at Home Swim Meets OR members can email MaryKate Galke (mkgalke@gmail.com) with specific size/color requests.

Events Calendar: As we welcome the summer season at the Club, check out what we have to look forward to this month. To see all of the year’s activities at the Club, check out the Events Calendar on the Kingspoint Club Website.
