Letter from the KP President
Dear Kingspoint Club Members,
Hello and Happy New year! I hope you are staying warm and safe as the snow and ice finally melt after these long couple of weeks of cold winter weather finally release Williamsburg.
I want to officially introduce the new Board members you elected last month.
New Board Members
Ben Brown - President
Julia Mishler - Communications Chair
Catherine Mountjoy - Treasurer
Pam Young - Secretary
Michael Gordon - Facilities
Mary LeGouellec - VP of Membership
I would like to thank everyone who attended this year’s Annual Stockholder Meeting on January 20, 2026; we appreciated all the great questions and feedback. It was a productive and informative session and was great to see so many of you all. Thank you to everyone who sent in their proxy vote; we had an overwhelming response. The updated bylaws were passed and will be added to our website (https://www.kingspointclub.org/).
Dues: The Club is asking all members to please pay in full by February 28th. There was a small increase ($50) in dues this year, so please be sure to check your invoice and send in a payment of $850 in 2026. For your convenience, you can pay your dues on our Kingspoint Club website at (https://www.kingspointclub.org/pay-resident-dues). Please check your email for an invoice from the Treasurer and make your payment. Please email Catherine with any questions about payments. (kpwilliamsburg@gmail.com)
Linked are the notes from the Annual Stockholder meeting. As you will read, it was a very informative and well-attended meeting. All proposals were approved--the new Board, the Bylaws' changes, and the 2026 budget. Again, thank you to everyone who sent in their proxy forms and attended in person!
Mark Your Calendars for the KP Club Super Bowl Party
Once again, it is the season for Chili and Football! Whether your team is hitting its stride at just the right time and going for it all or went home halfway through the season, this is the time where we can come together as a community, get out of the cold, and warm our bellies. I have a feeling this year is going to be spicy.
Sunday, February 8th is the day. Kickoff is 6:30, but the chili starts at six. Please see the sign up below if you want to throw your hat in the chili ring for this year’s competition or can help with setup or cleanup. There are no limitations to the chili. Make what you like and I guarantee someone else will agree. There will be a spread of chili fixins, so no need to bring anything extra.

Boat Rack: IThe Kingspoint Club offers boat storage at the College Creek Boat Landing for Kingspoint Club Resident Members only. The storage racks can accommodate canoes, kayaks, or paddle boards.
This year, we have a brand new, fourth boat rack, ready to accommodate even more members interested in renting a spot at the Club. Since the demand for these spots is high, we will again conduct a lottery to assign slots. We have 34 spots for rent for 2026. The cost for boat storage is $125 per year–that is just over $10 a month–a bargain! Considering a spot this year? Please complete the Boat Lottery Form by February 1, 2026.
(FYI: If you are selected for a boat rack spot, you will be invoiced by the Kingspoint Club Treasurer. Payment is due to the Kingspoint Club Treasurer by March 1st. If payment is not received by this date, you will lose your spot. To be considered for a boat rack spot you must be a resident member in good standing.)
Kayak Launch: In December, a kayak launch was purchased and it has officially arrived at the Club! Once the creek has thawed, our Facilities Team will get busy installing it, so it is ready for our kayaking members eager to get back out onto College Creek this spring.
JANUARY Volunteers and Donors: We are forever thankful for our members for your unwavering support. You make the Club look beautiful and run smoothly. The Club couldn’t run properly without everyone’s efforts!! A heartfelt thank you to all for signing up and showing up! THANK YOU ALL!
Matt Blinn, Kathryn Haines, Kim Lavach, Scott Lerberg, Catherine Mountjoy, Tara Peters, and Melissa Reeves - Annual Meeting - Thank you so much for planning a very educational and successful Annual meeting. It was very well-attended and informative. Each of you was busy running the “behind the scenes” Club projects this year and the membership is extremely grateful for all of your time and service.
Events Calendar: As we move into 2026 at the Club, check out what we have to look forward to in January 2026. To see all of the year’s activities at the Club, check out the Events Calendar on the Kingspoint Club Website.
February Events: Be on the lookout for Club emails with specific details, signups, and reminders about the following important events.
Sunday, February 8 (6:30 PM) - Super Bowl LX Party/Chili Cook-off (Karl Kroenlein)
Monday, February 9 (7 PM) - Kingspoint Club Board Meeting
Social Events: The Club is inviting members to help Social Chair, MaryKate Galke, take the lead and bring their Social Event ideas to life in 2026! Last year’s events were awesome! If you have an idea and would like to host a Club get -together this year, please reach out. For more information: (KPSocialComm@gmail.com).
Donations: If you are unable to donate your time to KP Club Social Events or Board/Committee positions, please consider giving to the club to help maintain club resources and enhance KP Club Social Events. We are grateful to have received wonderful donations from our generous members in 2025. To help encourage giving to the Club, Anne Allen had the following to say:
"In this time of giving, it is so important to give to those whose needs speak to your heart. For Ken and me, it spans the globe, but we are also aware of the importance of needs closest to us, like our wonderful Kingspoint neighborhood. We see the value in having a robust community center for our neighbors, and we treasure hearing the joyful sounds of picnics and festivities from our yard. We believe we have a very special neighborhood (realtors as well as newcomers tell us that) and we believe in belonging to the club that helps sustain that old fashioned American spirit, even though we don’t use the pool or clubhouse ourselves. We believe it important to help sustain the club for many reasons, not the least of which is how it adds to each one of our real estate values.
The club is faced with some serious and costly challenges, like replacing the boat dock and keeping an ageing pool in top condition. I would encourage everyone to not only become a member, if you’re not already, but to include it on your end-of-year donation list as well.
It takes a village. And what a wonderful village we have!"
Anne Allen, Club Member 17 years
Please consider making a donation to the Kingspoint Club.
Your donation—of any size—will help us maintain and improve the shared spaces and organize (even more) engaging events that make our Club such a welcoming and inclusive organization in our community. Donations support ongoing upkeep and necessary enhancements to our common areas, and help us to support member events that festively bring us together throughout the year.
YOUR donation will help us start the year with resources that can be utilized to create a stronger foundation for the year ahead. YOUR generous support will allow us to continue providing maintenance and improvements to the dock, pool, clubhouse, greens, and parking areas, and purchase supplies for annual Club activities, like the Superbowl Party & Chili Cook-Off, the Easter Egg Hunt, the Memorial Day Party & 5K Fun Run, the New Member Potlucks, the Tiki Party, and the Harvest Happy Hour, that benefit all members. We are grateful for your generosity and for the many ways our Club's community supports one another.
You may drop off a donation to the mailbox of our Treasurer at 140 Kingspoint Drive, or you may put a check in the mail and send it to our mailing address:

(FYI: The KingspointClub is a 501(c)(7) nonprofit corporation organized under the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Generally 501(c)(7) are not tax-deductible for the donor. This is because 501(c)(7)s are social clubs that primarily benefit their members, unlike 501(c)(3)s which are public charities and can receive tax-deductible contributions. Dues, fees, and assessments paid to a 501(c)(7) are also not deductible.)
Swim Team Co-Presidents: Our Kingspoint Dolphin summer swim team has a long history (over 65 years!) of coaching our neighborhood swimmers. We teach lifelong skills: swimming, teamwork, work ethic, dedication. And equally important, it's safe and fun! The progress of swimmers from beginning to end of summer each year is completely amazing to witness.
Because the team runs on volunteer support, we are soliciting TWO Presidents for this upcoming swim year. All our leadership have transitioned out of the President positions and we have no current presidents for summer 2026. One president will be here for the spring for prep and get us started (thank you!). We can only host a summer swim league if we can fill these positions ASAP. Ideally, we need two swim families (both KP residents and non-residents) to step up to lead the charge and we encourage families with younger swimmers to step up. The season prep generally begins in late Feb/March and runs through late July. We have all the continuity files in place for an easy transition and awesome past presidents to help (e.g., Amanda Waggoner, Morgan Kader, Jen Stanhope, Melissa Reeves, Jamie Blinn, Gina Flango).
Please contact Maggie Larson at margaret.larson2006@gmail.com and/or kpswimteam@gmail.com to discuss this opportunity.
Due Diligence Report: Last year, the Board discovered a Due Diligence report that Mike Matthews created for the Kingspoint Club in 2011. This report was previously completed every 5 years. The Due Diligence report contains professional reports which evaluate the current status of all of the Club’s amenities. The Board is reinstating the Due Diligence report in 2026 to help us better understand the Club’s current status. As soon as we have our pool inspection completed, Mike can complete this year’s Due Diligence report, and we will share the results with you. We are thrilled that future Boards will be able to use the information in this report to address short-term and long-term maintenance needs of the Club.
Facilities Team Support: The Facilities Team has LOTS TO DO and NEEDS your help! Can you cut down a dead tree? Can you fix a swim block? Can you replace decking boards? Can you move mulch? Can you fix broken lighting or solve a plumbing mystery? WE NEED YOU! Please contact our Facilities chair (kingspointfacilities@gmail.com) if you would like to join our Facilities Team or to find out if there are any projects that we could use your help completing.
Kingspoint Community Merchandise: T-shirts are $20 each for this year's RED options. Previous years' T-shirts are $5 each; there are limited sizes. Ball caps (RED or GRAY) are $20 each. Koozies are $5 each. All merchandise will be available for sale at Home Swim Meets OR members can email MaryKate Galke (mkgalke@gmail.com) with specific size/color requests.
CCalling All of Our Members who LOVE the Club: We want to hear from YOU. Please share your Club memories so we can spotlight your beautiful stories. Your storytelling strengthens our collective community. Please share your memories with us and be sure to tell us how long you have been a member! (kppresidents@gmail.com)
Membership Team Support: Mary LeGouellec NEEDS your help reaching out to Kingspoint neighbors on behalf of the Club. The Membership Team welcomes new neighbors and invites them to join the Club. Team members reach out to current non-Club neighbors to discuss and encourage memberships. Residents can join with a $500 initiation or stock-membership fee, plus the 2026 dues payment. Ask neighbors to visit our website, (Kingspoint Club Website) for more information. If a neighbor joins because of your help, you will receive a $10 gift card to Aromas! Email Mary for more information: (membershipkingspoint@gmail.com).
Kingspoint Club Website: We have been updating the Kingspoint Club Website to make it a “one-stop-shop” for everything Club! It is only getting better–with more communication and more information! Be sure to check it out to see what is new! Send us your feedback; we value your suggestions; please reach out: kppresidents@gmail.com.
Dock Improvements Update: This past spring, the Kingspoint Club received an approved wetlands permit for the Kingspoint Community Dock Replacement project. We then submitted a site plan to the JCC Zoning Office and it was approved. We are currently working with Club member, Mike Matthews, of The Structures Group to obtain the final building permits for the dock. Mike provided an update and building plans for the dock at the Annual Meeting and we are hoping to start working on phase 1 of the rebuild this spring. We will provide updates as soon as we receive them (This process is all dependent on permits and piling replacement. - stay tuned for our volunteer call!)

Pet of the Month: Milo, Scout, and Thunder
Owners: Martin Family
Scout (15 months) is an Australian Shepherd mix with endless energy—he loves going to the beach, playing ball, and catching the frisbee. Milo (11 yrs old), a classic Pug, most enjoys supervising anything food-related in hopes a wayward morsel comes his way. They have a blast playing with each other, and when the weather is nice, Scout also loves having a play date with Fancy, who lives down the street.
Dinner prep time is a favorite for both pups, but for different reasons: Milo stands guard as the official food sentry, while Scout brings two balls, drops them at my feet, and stares me down until I kick them—ideally at the same time. He loves playing goalkeeper, trying to stop the balls from getting past him. He’d happily do it all day, every day!
Thunder, the fluffy cat, is 8 yrs and loves saying hello to neighbors on his daily rounds. He wears a colorful bib as a bird-friendly safeguard, so he can enjoy the outdoors while giving the birds a little extra space.
Nominate a Kingspoint Club pet (dog, cat, bird, fish, lizard, spider, etc) for the future issues by emailing kpcrier@gmail.com.

Women’s Club News
On February 17 the Kingspoint Women’s Club is going to see ”Following the Dragon” at Jamestown Settlement. Merry Outlaw, longtime Kingspoint resident who curated this exhibit, will lead us on a tour. The exhibit features Ming dynasty porcelain from museums and private collection all all over world that match designs and patterns of pottery fragments archaeologists have found at Jamestown. Thirty-one examples of Ming porcelain are paired with identical, intact vessels found worldwide. There is a link below to an article about the exhibit. This is a great opportunity for our group.
We are planning to have lunch after the tour in the Jamestown Settlement Cafe for all that are interested. Check the menu on line. The Brunswick stew is good. We will pay individually.
Jamestown Settlement is free to local residents.
We will meet in the lobby at Jamestown Settlement museum at 10:30. If you have not already, let the hostesses know you are planning to attend AND if you would like a ride.
