News from the Club: May 2025

“Kingspoint memories, for me, go back to 1976, when our family had only recently returned from a 2-year assignment in Thailand. After researching and visiting several residential neighborhoods in the area, we settled upon Kingspoint. Why did we do this? Location, location, location. A beautiful neighborhood tucked away in a hidden corner overlooking College Creek, direct access to the Colonial Parkway, and a lovely walking/hiking trail on the Country Road which takes you to Colonial Williamsburg or to the JCC government center. Our two children immediately joined the Club’s swim team! My other wonderful Club memory has to do with something that isn’t here anymore...tennis courts! I was an avid tennis player so I burned a lot of energy on the courts; the courts may be gone but my memories are not. I remember having picnics at the clubhouse grounds (A sales office at that time!) and taking advantage of our location by hiking along the Parkway.” Loretta Hannum, Kingspoint Club member for 49 years!

5/4 (2-5 PM) Clean Up Day– Join us for an opportunity to roll up your sleeves and work alongside neighbors, friends, and family as we clean-up grounds of the Club. At this year's Spring Clean-Up, we would like to focus some of our attention on the back of the property in the hope that it will feel more like a park with more spots to sit outside and enjoy the views of our beautiful creek. Please bring your rakes, wheelbarrows, loppers, and chainsaws to help with the Clean-Up.
Below is a list of some of the 2025 Spring Clean-Up projects we are hoping to complete: (Please know that these projects are subject to change as we assess the property's needs on Sunday.)
1. Rake fallen leaves
2. Spread mulch around the Clubhouse
3. Spread mulch around the playground and picnic tables
4. Tidy the planting beds around the Clubhouse
5. Clear fallen trees and dead branches
6. Clean up the back of Club's property along the creek
7. Spruce up potential outdoor spaces for future seating areas along the creek
8. Build a dedicated canoe rack at the Boat Racks
9. Replace missing boards on the dock
10. Organize all the indoor spaces within the clubhouse
Can’t make it? Contact our Facilities chair, Melissa Reeves, (kingspointfacilities@gmail.com) to see if there are any projects that can be done before or after our Clean-Up event. Thank you for helping us make the 2025 Spring Clean-Up a success!

We are asking for donations of any unused canoes, kayaks, paddle boards, boats that are still in good shape that we can auction off to those members looking for "new-to-you" watercraft!
You may drop off your donation anytime this week near the clubhouse. Please store it on the ground in the grass around the parking circle near the boat racks and the mulch pile.
All proceeds from the Watercraft Auction will help fund the new dock and repairs to the waterfront area.

Summer Pass Holders: An Invitation to Join the Kingspoint Club in 2025: We would love to welcome Friends of Kingspoint (non-residents) back to the Kingspoint Club as a 2025 Summer Pass Holder! It is that time of the year again when Friends of Kingspoint may begin thinking about joining the Kingspoint Club for the 2025 Summer Season. The Kingspoint Club would love to welcome them and their families back to the Kingspoint Pool this summer.
We have TWO WAYS for Friends of Kingspoint to join the Kingspoint Pool as Summer Pass Holders this year.
They can print and fill out the Summer Pass Holder form and mail it in with their payment to the Club.
They can join online by visiting the Membership Page of the Kingspoint Club website and click on "Join as a Summer Pass Holder" at the bottom of the page. Click on "Summer Pass Holders" to join online today.
What does it mean to be a Summer Pass Holder?
Friends of Kingspoint (non-residents) are invited to join the Kingspoint Club for the summer (Memorial Day through Labor Day)!
Summer Pass Holders have access to the pool, the clubhouse, the deck and porch, the playground, the park, the sports field, the dock, and the boat launch; they receive invitations to all Club-sponsored summer events; and they receive reduced clubhouse rental fees.
Summer Pass Holders pay $450 for a family membership; $400 for a couples membership; or $350 for an individual membership.
Spread the word! We look forward to seeing our Summer Pass Holders at the Club this summer!
LIfeguard and Pool Attendant Hours: The Club will be utilizing a combination of lifeguard hours and swim-at-your-own-risk hours. The swim-at-your-own-risk hours will be monitored and managed by pool attendants.
When lifeguards are on duty, non-swimming children & children under 12 years old must be accompanied by an adult swimmer at all times.
Pool Attendants will manage the pool during the swim-at-your-own-risk hours: They will work during non-guarded times when the pool is open without a lifeguard on duty, when children (under 14) will need to be supervised by a responsible adult/guardian
Lifeguard Training: Interested in becoming a lifeguard this summer? We want YOU! Please read the following information about lifeguarding at the Kingspoint Pool in 2025.
Continental has posted training classes in the new Aquaplex in Hampton this year (as well as training courses in Virginia Beach). Information can be found at Top Lifeguard Training in Southern Virginia | Continental Pools.
All those interested in lifeguarding please apply using the following form which is specific to the Kingspoint Club Continental Season Lifeguard Form.
Continental is giving discounted lifeguard training for their own employees, and it is our understanding that if the training is completed soon it will potentially be free.
Last year (2024), the pay started at $14 per hour and increased depending on experience, availability, etc.
Please apply ASAP if you are interested in being a lifeguard this summer.
If you have any questions, please contact the Kingspoint Presidents (KPPresidents@gmail.com) or our Facilities Chair (KingspointFacilities@gmail.com).
